DA Hike Big Update: Arrears Of Two Months Will Be Available, Salary Will Increase By This Much

Central government employees will receive a bumper gift before Holi. The central government has fully geared up for the employees’ dearness allowance hike. As per reports in the media, an official announcement on this front would be made on the coming 5th March. This has created a lot of joy for more than one crore central government employees and pensioners, as this will declare a considerable raise in their monthly income.

Increase Will Be Announced On 5th March

The Union Cabinet meeting is going to be held on the coming Wednesday i.e. March 5. As per media reports, the proposal to increase the dearness allowance is expected to get approval during this meeting. This assumption is made in light of previous years’ patterns, in which the government has historically announced dearness allowance increases before Holi every year. This year, the festival of Holi will be celebrated on March 25, and as per tradition, a little gift is always given to the employees prior to such festivals.

How Much Increase Can Take Place In The DA

Experts believe that in this case too, the dearness allowance will increase by about 3 percent. If presently the employees of the center are entitled to a dearness allowance of 53 percent, it will be increased to about 56 percent. The increase will be based on the basic salary on which the 7th Pay Commission has been based. For example, an employee who has a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will get an increase of Rs 540 in monthly earning by this increased dearness allowance. Other positions will also have the same proportional increased dearness allowance related to their basic salary.

Will Be Effective From January 1

Special will be this since this increase in dearness allowance will be considered effective from January 1, 2025; so, in effect, the employees will be entitled to arrears for the months of January and February. Therefore, enhanced salary will come along with payment of salary for months of January and February through March. According to government rules, revision of dearness allowances is generally carried out twice a year, first in January and revised again in July. This increase will remain effective until the end of June, after which it will again be revised in July.

One Crore Families Will Get Benefit.

This increase in dearness allowance will benefit current as well as former employees in terms of pensions. In total, therefore, almost one crore families are bound to gain affected in this decision. The increments in salary to be given to the employees of different departments, ministries, autonomous institutions, and other organizations under the Central Government are meant to enhance the living conditions of these employees and to save them from the clutches of inflation.
