Retirement Rules Latest Update: Possibility Of change In Rules For Government Employees

The government has decided to raise the retirement age limit for specialist doctors from sixty years to sixty-five years, a vital decision that has been taken by the government so as to strengthen health services in the state and overcome the shortage of such specialist doctors. This decision has favored 550 specialist doctors of Uttarakhand.

Under the new policy, the doctors may continue rendering services even after completing the age of sixty years ,they would however, be relieved of administrative as well as financial responsibilities, and, be appointed as their chief consultants. The order issued by the government has several major clauses:

  • Extension of Service-The Age of Superannuation increased from the current sixty years to sixty-five years for specialist doctors.
  • New Work Nature: On attainment of the 60 years age, doctors will cease working under administrative and financial responsibilities.
  • New role: After 60 years, these doctors will be appointed as chief consultants.
  • Salary and Benefits: These medical officers will not receive any promotions after they are 60 years old. For all medical officers of this category, their conditions of service remain as they are and such medical officers will continue to receive salary increment and other service benefits as per rules.
