Salary Hike – The news is like a birthday gift for government employees. The central government has declared a huge hike in the salary, for which there will be a live bumper jump in salaries, especially among the level-1 employees. As soon as the new pay scale comes into effect, the salary of these employees may increase by 33,480 rupees.
New Pay Commission To Be Implemented By 2026
The central government has accepted the creation of the 8th Pay Commission and it is likely to be put into force by the year 2026. Soon after, the salary and pension of employees will be increased significantly. The government is awaiting the report of this pay commission before it is floated from 1 January 2026.
How Will The Salary Increase?
Most important factor of increasing the salary of government employees is the fitment factor. It works like a multiplier, which decides how many salary is going to increase. The fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission was 2.57 because of which minimum salary increased from Rupees 7,000 to Rupees 18,000. Now in 8th Pay Commission, there is talk of increasing this fitment factor to 2.86. If this happens, ‘the minimum basic salary can go up to rupees 51,480; In other words, up to 186 percent increment in salary.
Big Benefit To Level-1 Employees
If the fitment factor is increased to 2.86 in the 8th Pay Commission, the current salary of level-1 employees will rise from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480 a month. There will be a direct increase of Rs 33,480 in the salary. Level-1 consists of employees such as peons, attendants, and multi-tasking services in various departments of the government.
Salary Increment For level-2 Employees Will Also Be Quite Huge
Level-2 employees are lower division clerks and other employees doing administrative work. According to 7th Pay Commission, their salary was 19,900/- but it may become around 57,000/- in 8th Pay Commission. Thus, an increment of about Rs.37000 is expected.
Beneficiaries Will Level-3 Employees Also Get An Advantage
Level-3 employees consist of constables and skilled trade staff in police, defense, and public service. The current salary can be increased from 21,700 to 40,000, hence making the total expected salary around 62,000.
Level-4 Salary Will Also Increase
A few kinds of shining examples fall under Level-4: stenographers (grade D) and junior clerks, who work as transcription and documentation assistants. Their current salary stands around 26,500, but it can go up to 72,930 under the 8th Pay Commission.
